Special Request!

How to Find God (HTFG), a New Testament in the New Living Translation, is one of the most impressive new tools for evangelism. It is becoming a standard bearer for anyone looking to impact those who have not heard the Gospel. Not only is it written in a simple-to-understand English (Grade 5.7 level) but it also contains dozens and dozens of helps, helps that assist the reader with everything from the basics to answers to those big questions. These helps, plus the plan of salvation and a 33-page explanation of basic Christianity, make this a must-have. An index of helps completes this outstanding resource.

We have ordered as many as a thousand copies of HTFG at one time, but even that is not enough to meet the demand. Gordon Penner at "The Bunker," a popular Winkler youth ministry, uses HTFG with kids who are looking for God. He has had to ration them when we have not had the resources to bring them in or when we were waiting for the next order to come in. This is a shame.

I recently challenged a church to possess His Word, telling them that God would make an appointment for them to present it. Later that week I received a call from a woman who accepted my challenge. She had not made it home with the HTFG New Testament before she ran into a neighbour whose husband was facing major medical problems. This woman said she needed to get back to church but that she did not understand Christianity that well. She received, on the spot, the HTFG New Testament, containing answers to many of her questions.

We approached Tyndale to see if we could reduce our present cost (about $3.50 each). Our new cost is $2.12 apiece, but we have to order 60,000 to get this price, which means a total cost of $128,000. One donor has come forward and is matching the first $60,000 donated to this project.

Please become our partner in printing this order. Many lives will be changed for eternity, and you can have a major part in the blessing. Make your cheque payable to Canadian LifeLight Ministries and designate it for the "HTFG Project." Donations received in excess of those needed for this project will be used to buy more Scriptures. We await your response!

If someone were to tell you to pack:
  • 500 Spanish JESUS film flyers
  • 400 comment cards
  • 100 Spanish New Testaments from LifeLight
  • 25 English/Spanish Four Spiritual Laws booklets
  • a 100-foot extension cord
  • several Spanish children's JESUS videos
  • a projector table,
  • a portable screen with its stand
  • AND three boxes of children's clothing
– where do you think you would be going?

No, you wouldn't be opening a bookstore on Vancouver Island or a used children's clothing store in Vancouver. You would be part of the South Langley MB Church's JESUS film team, going to Mexico.

This year the group spent a couple of days in Cabo San Lucas, where they showed the JESUS film. Then they went north to La Paz, the capital city. Here they stayed at a Christian retreat centre, while working with the Centro de Fe church. One of the film showings was in a prison – talk about a "captive" audience!

One way to remember the various film shows was to name each one:

- Zaccheaus Show – Several little boys sat in a tree watching.
- Popcorn Show – The church people provided the crowd with popcorn and punch during one of the reel changes.
- Little Theresa Show – At the end of the film showing, Little Theresa, about eleven years old, was given a Spanish Four Spiritual Laws booklet with pictures of the JESUS film in it. As she sat on a bench reading it, tears were streaming down her face.
- Pig Show – This was one of the more unusual shows. While the film was running, right next door several men were unloading a huge pig from a truck!

Last year the JESUS film was shown in Mesa Colorado, an area that had no evangelical church. One of the churches the group worked with had a desire to plant a church there. This year's group saw an established, growing church in Mesa Colorado – a result of last year's show.

Six ordinary people, with very limited Spanish, brought materials and supplies to Mexico, prepared short testimonies, stepped out of their sphere of confidence and said to God, "Here I am, use me." And He did! And He can use you too! Why not come with us next time

Ready for Summer?

   • For the first time this summer, I saw kids in many cabins staying up late so they could read from their new Bibles – by flashlight
   • …on a little rock, was a ten-year-old boy, from a non-Christian home, reading the new Bible which he had received the night before.
   • When we went to check on the cabins, we could hear the kids leading their own Bible studies and reading the testimonies to each other.
   • What a joy to see the faces of the campers light up when they realized they could keep the Scriptures that had been given to them!

These are a few of the comments we received from Bible camps last fall. I know – it's only March, but it's time to get your orders in for camp, VBS and other summer outreach ministries.
