It's a quiet morning. Birds are singing, the grass is greening, and all seems right with the world. There is conflict in the world, but it seems so far away. The Middle East is in an uproar; Afghanistan still smoulders; and a dozen other hot spots seem ready to flare up. Yet they all seem far away. Revelation says, In the end times there will be wars and rumours of wars.

Armies all over the world are marshalling their forces. Recruiting is ongoing. In China, more than 10,000 join the army every day. By the year 2007, more than 35 percent of the Chinese population will be part of the largest army in the world–the army of believers, those who have committed their lives to Jesus Christ! They have joined the battle, rallying behind the one true Commander, who is assured of victory.

In Canada, 80 percent of Canadians believe that there is a God, but sadly, less than 10 percent have a personal relationship with Jesus Christ. Less than 10 percent are conscripts to the mightiest fighting force in the world. We as Canadians need to examine our part in this battle. We need to look around and see if indeed we are in the battle or whether we are wandering around the battlefield getting shot up and wounded, making no impact on the battle.

Are you putting on the full armour of God, or are you wounded daily by the lack of armour? Are you even aware that you are involved in the greatest battle the world has ever known? You are called to this battle with the greatest weapon ever developed. It is sharper than any two-edged sword. If you even touch it, it will cut you. It delivers a deadly blow every time. It alters lives completely.

But we are shy about using this weapon. We are uncomfortable with its weight and power. We wield it awkwardly at best, but mostly it is left in the scabbard, unused, forgotten and wasted.

This weapon is, of course, the Word of God! It is the weapon that cannot be defeated. And the best part is that God is calling all of us to this battle, asking us to use this mighty weapon–to see lives changed as we give away Bibles, spreading the Word thick on the land till all have felt its weight and surrendered to its message, the message of the Father's love and His offer of salvation through Jesus Christ and life eternal in the Father's arms.
